Waterways

The charming town of Nantwich stands in the heart of Cheshire on the banks of the Shropshire Union Canal. The ever-scenic Llangollen Canal is a stone’s throw to the west.

The waterways of Cheshire are not only an attractive and relaxing place to be, they also offer the chance to enjoy sites of historic interest, heritage and culture. This area offers an experience for all, why not take a walk along the tranquil River Weaver or one of the canal towpaths. You will see working locks and a plethora of wildflowers and birds which now make their home amid the seclusion of these now-peaceful waterways. You'll also find all sorts of wildlife on Britain's waterways - from common sights such as mallards and moorhens, to otters and water voles.

Those who want to put less effort into seeing the beautiful landscapes of the Nantwich area can cruise on the waterways. These unique waterways offer superb canal holidays and canal boat hire on comfortable traditional narrowboats and a choice of marinas where you can moor up and stretch your legs. There are plenty of places to stop for some well-earned refreshment at one of the canal side pubs!
